Marchosias (Marchio) ([personal profile] greatmarquis) wrote2012-11-09 07:52 pm

just a general thing

Marchosias (Marc)

Hair color: Green w/ some black

Eye color: black

Age: Over 2000 years old, but physically appears to be in his early 20's.

-Appears in the form of a human most of the time, but can switch to his other form. That of a wolf with wings on its back and a serpent tail.

-Powers: Not exactly a magic user, he prefers to be more physical than anything, using other means. But if he has to he has the ability to use ice at his disposal.

-He learned from Leraje how to properly use a bow and arrow so that’s his primary weapon of choice. Combined with his ice skills he can freeze the arrow for maximum damage.

-Other than that he can whip out his teeth and claws while still in human form, having the power of a demon this is still a deadly choice.

-He’s stronger in his animal form, but he doesn’t exactly like to be in it a lot. After turning into a fallen angel he considers the form of a wolf to be a curse instead of having his regular angelic wings.

-The ice powers that he is able to do is certainly magic though, every demon in hell is unique and has their own fighting style. They can use magic or any other means of attacking like different weapons and such.

-Due to the fact that he's a demon that takes after that of a wolf, he has heightened senses from that animal. He can see very well, even in the dark and through fog, he has heightened smell, his hearing is very sensitive as well.

-Ice variations:

Bring forth a simple shard of ice that shoots out from his hand and penetrate the enemy.

Able to create ice claws on top of his own wolf-like claws while in human form. This makes them stretch much farther and are far sharper than just regular claws.

Can summon ice from the ground, the shards come up like massive stalagmites and attempt to pierce through the enemy from underneath.

With his bow that he can make appear, he can make an ice arrow appear as he draws back the bow, with his training from Leraje and his heightened senses he can see much further than most, his accuracy is amazing too. The arrow hits and then the ice spreads, freezing the spot it hit as soon as it touches the enemy.

History:

He was once a gallant angel named Marchio, strong and kind- admired by all, not once did he lie or try anything that the creator wouldn’t approve of. No, he was someone that could be trusted, that could be easily relied on, and yet there were those that wanted to see that courageous stature of his fall. Of course, he believed that everyone else was as righteous as him, he didn’t think that there would be others that would oppose what he stood for, especially in a sacred place like heaven, but there was corruption and turmoil around every corner. There were whispers that there was a traitor among them, but Marchio didn’t think so, he just couldn’t comprehend that there would be betrayal in their sacred place.

He didn’t believe, he couldn’t believe. When he was approached by Phenex of course he agreed to assist her with whatever she needed. She said that she had been approached by God himself, stating that there was a battle with the demons of the underworld and he would be a fine addition to those fighting against the sinners from beneath them. There was no other answer but yes, and he was delighted to help his fellow angel Phenex with whatever she desired. He didn’t think anything of it, didn’t think that the one the whispers were about was her.

Into battle he went with Phenex at his side, and he never felt better. He lead the troops, told them what to do and of course he was at the head of it all, making it seem as though he had gone into battle here alongside her and knew what they were facing. He didn’t know though, and as the battle begun he soon came to realize what was happening. His troops were killing those that were possessed, and it wasn’t until a good portion of them had been slaughtered did he notice. God knew of this and he too was cast out of heaven. He pleaded to stay, and when he was asked why he had done it…. Well, he was faced with a choice. Should he inform God of Phenex, of what she told him and in turn add even more years on to her sentence and save himself, or would he tell his first lie and be sent to hell as well?

If Marchio was one thing, it was selfless.

He held his tongue, saying nothing when he was asked. He knew that if he opened his mouth that urge to blurt out the truth would arise, so instead he remained quiet. God was even more angered by the fact that he didn’t speak when told to, taking it as he knew what he was doing and should be sent to hell as well. On top of that he would assume the form of an ugly creature if he was summoned by the Conjurer, a beast that resembled a wolf equipped with wings that could not fly and a tail that was a snake head.

Upon reaching hell he was in that form for quite a while, unable to actually do anything about it until one of the princes approached him. They could help him return back to a form that was less appalling, for a price of course. He had to serve them, become a Great Marquis and do whatever they asked of him. He agreed, knowing that there was nothing left for him anymore, that courageous and gallant side of him slowly buried itself deep within him, the hope of one day returning to heaven dwindling as well. Soon his attitude turned apathetic, he rarely talked and when he did his words were filled with bitter contempt.

However, old habits die hard.

The act of caring for others and wanting to do anything for them to keep them safe never left him, he continuously tries to push that down but it’s no use. If asked a question he still says the truth, he no longer holds his tongue. He will say what is right, no matter how gruesome and horrible it may be.

Does he regret not telling God what happened? …No, not really. He has resentment towards Phenex, but he will never let go of his beliefs. He can’t, he’s tried to before, and after fighting it he’s come to realize that he shouldn’t try and change who he used to be to fit the fallen angel he is now. Even if he must be ugly on the outside, he will not be on the inside. Under that cold exterior, under that piercing gaze he is a kind man with a heart of gold. He may be lazy and apathetic, but there is truth to all of his words and once he’s trusted someone it’s hard to let go of them.

Personality:

At first glance one would say that Marchosias is merely an apathetic demon, someone that wants nothing more to do with other people and wants to be left alone, wants to sleep his life away and hardly do anything of significance. While this might be true, there are a few reasons why he's become like this. Marc is a lazy man, that is painfully obvious by the way he wishes to lay around, sleep whenever he can, or simply a slow moving individual. The reason he is the way he is though is due to his past, due to the fact that he was banished from the one place he had called home and doomed to rot forever in the inferno he has to face every day. He's lost all hope, the promise he was once made will never be fulfilled, hell is his new home now, these thoughts float through his mind more times than he could ever fathom, and with each passing moment those fears that he wished to push down so desperately would rise time and time again. The demons in hell taunted him and told him he would never return, he tried to push their words from his mind but they always resurfaced, and due to this he has come to accept what they tell him, he knows that even after his time is up in hell he still won't be slowed to go to paradise. With all hope lost and everything he once knew shattered brutally, Marc is now too apathetic to even care about the most important things, people or circumstances he once cared for dearly he could hardly bring himself to even think about any more. He'll never return to heaven, he'll stay in hell forever and be forced to serve out the wishes of the Throne and continue to be a simple demon, summoned for his wisdom and honesty.

While he is apathetic and lazy towards most people, there are instances when he breaks that tradition and will seldom times allow himself at least a little sliver of feeling instead of simply being numb to everything. Thanks to him originally being an angel there are deep rooted feelings and beliefs inside of him, such as divine justice that should be carried out to certain sinners, or assisting someone in need when they ask for it. He's a very loyal man, both because he believes in loyalty from being an angel and because of the fact that when he's summoned he must stay true and follow the Conjurer no matter what. Long ago when he was an angel there was a time when God had asked him to give the name of the person that had done him wrong, he merely held his tongue and refused even that, he refused to do what was asked of him and thus angered the one he should have been the most loyal to. Why? Because he didn't want to get the one that did it all to him in trouble, he had known her previously and knew (or at least hoped) that she was a good person deep down and that she must have been possessed. He's a selfless man, he'll put someone else before him in most cases, but when he feels like the other doesn't exactly deserve such kindness he'll leave them to whatever torments they're going through. After he had said nothing to God however, he had vowed that after that he would tell the truth to those that asked it, no matter how cruel or how brutal it may be. If someone wanted to know the truth so badly, then why should he stop it? After all, withholding information is what got him into such trouble in the first place, he could have easily said it was Phenex that tricked him and got a significant less sentence, but he knew the consequences and took them anyway.

Marc does not enjoy his current appearance, he finds it to be an ugly reminder of what he had become thanks to a few mistakes that he's now paying for. He regrets what he did, but it's in the past and this is how he is now, a cold and apathetic demon that took on a different form than what he used to be when he was an angel. When he was initially banished to hell he was made to take on the for of a vicious beast, a rather large wolf with wings that couldn't lift him off the ground and a tail that resembled that of a serpent. For the longest time he had wandered hell like that, simply lost and stranded, letting his own thoughts wander and think about what happened, during that time his heart had frozen over and he had become as numb and apathetic as he is now. He had met someone though, a demon that looked after the circle of treachery, a king of the Throne, he said that he could help Marchio (the name he was initially given when he was an angel) if he agreed to become one of the greater demons of hell and assist the Throne in any possible way. He agreed, as long as he joined the ranks and did what he was told he could stop being this hideous beast and take on a more suitable form. He had been granted a body that resembled a human, but there will still things about him that were distinctly demon-like. It is an improvement from what he had, but he still hates how he looks. After this he was given the name Marchosias and was made out to be one of the 72 demons of hell. While he doesn't enjoy his appearance he doesn't exactly fight it either, he's far too lazy, that would require too much energy and he would rather sleep than dwell on such things after such a long time.

Some of the wonderful perks with being granted the body of a demon is the fact that he has to deal with certain urges from time to time. He serves in the circle of limbo, an area that is the furthest up in hell, but it also the closest to the circle of lust. When lesser demons visit other circles they succumb to what they circle represents, often time losing themselves for a bit until they can make it back to their own circle, if they remain there for too long that is. Marc is destined to limbo so he may survey the amount of hopeless souls entering and being judged, thus making him more numb and apathetic when seeing just how many people come here day in and day out. The urges that rise up in him though are those that every demon must face and go through, they thrive on the pleasures of the flesh, they enjoy tormenting people and playing sadistic pranks, only to satisfy their own cruel hearts and feel fulfilled. Marc isn't a sadistic individual, out of all the demons in hell he ranks one of the most good due to his background, but even so he still has desires that he'll eventually give in to. Lust being one of them, of course. He tries to fight it whenever he feels the want rise up inside of him but he never does get rid of it fully, it'll soon build and accumulate until eventually he can't stand it anymore. It's a good thing that he has Phenex beside him to help him out when times like that arise, she's often the one he goes to in order to assist with such a thing. He's a loyal man, he'll usually stick to those he has done it with before, but he's also not picky if he's been letting his desire fester and eventually become too unbearable. The female demons in hell are quite willing to help with such a thing after all.

While he's not sadistic, Marc does have other more playful sides to him, but this only comes up when he's dealing with someone he cares for or is used to being around. He'll generally say little playful jokes here and there, but of course it's with the same apathetic expression, sometimes even a frown. Very rarely will he smile, but when he does it's of course when he's most happiest, and he's never smiled the entire time he's been in hell- not once had he ever experienced something that would result in true happiness for him. There's too much death around him, too much evil being done for his liking, only on the surface does he ever really smile, it's much closer to that paradise he so desires after all. In turn, he's hardly ever mad either- he frowns more often than anything but that's just from being annoyed more than anything, really. He's never actually gotten mad, not even when he was banished was he angry, he was disappointed in himself and took everything out on himself internally but he wasn't mad at Phenex or God. The only instance would he ever get mad would be if someone he had eventually grew to care about enough was in danger, or anything along those lines of someone he truly likes. He doesn't have anyone like that right now though, he has Phenex but she's just someone that stays around him since she feels bad for what she's done. He has his other friend, Leraje as well, but they're not extremely close or anything either. Minos? Minos is another story, he's just someone he works with and an annoying someone at that, he could do without him.

Out of all the emotions that Marc could feel, love would be something he had definitely pushed the furthest from his heart. Love leads to sorrow when it's time to let that person go, love leads to disappointment when everything you know is eventually turned upside down. He loved everyone when he was in paradise, but now he can say he hasn't loved anyone in over a thousand years. Lust is different from love, such a thing is so foreign to him at this point, he had completely forgotten how to feel anything like that. However, it's not impossible for him though. It would take a lot of time and a lot of poking at him before his heart would eventually melt enough for him to experience that warmth known as love. Once he did let someone or even multiple people in though, he would do everything he could to protect them, to bring them close to him and never want to see them hurt or in pain. He would try to take on their torments, take on their sorrows and make them his own, only because he cares for them so much. Marc is someone that isn't afraid to say what's on his mind, isn't afraid to speak the truth, but when saying words of love.... that would take a while before he would become comfortable enough. Why? Simply because he's afraid that maybe they'll end up leaving him once he finally does say it, maybe they'll go and he'll be doomed to remain alone forever once more. But.... he could say that he wants to experience it at at least once, he wants to remember what it was like to love someone truly and to feel that love in return. He's searching for this, but he himself doesn't realize this.

On a more playful note, Marc seems to actually enjoy something that he found in hell. He likes the cold, quite a bit actually. It doesn't bother him at all, he enjoys the feeling of being cold and likes the snow and ice, it's probably why his powers revolve around such an element. He likes water too, sure, but he likes the cold the most, snow is one of his favorite things and often times when he goes to visit Phenex down in Treachery he's glad that she's there, it's freezing in that circle, everything struggling in the bitter cold, everyone except him of course. He'll even play in it, when no one is looking of course.

Other:

Acheron is the river that separates Hell from Purgatory and Heaven. One of the five rivers of the Greek underworld - Acheron is the river of sorrow, Cocytus is the river of lamentation, Phlegethon is the river of fire, Lethe is the river of forgetfulness and Styx is the river of hate. Charon is the ferryman that carries people across the river to Hell.

Circles of Hell
1. Limbo
King - Paimon
Minos judges all who actively committed sin before sending them to one of the lower circles. It’s the most boring job ever.
2. Lust: Stormy.
King - Asmodeus, a fallen angel of the order Throne
3. Gluttony: Cold and muddy. Cerberus guards this circle, but in Greek mythology he is a three-headed dog who guards the gates of Hell.
King - Beelzebub, a fallen angel of order Seraphim
4. Greed
King - Mammon
5. Anger
King - Satan
6. Heresy
King - Lucifer
7. Violence
King - Leviathan
8. Fraud
King - Belphegor
9. Treachery: Made of ice.
King - Belial

City of Dis contains Circles 6 to 9 - it’s supposed to be very hot.

Three types of sins: self-indulgent (1-5), violent (6-7) and malicious (8-9).

-Throne: torments the damned souls, but in a different way than Seraphim, and they eventually form a contract with greater demons and follow them and cause pain wherever they go

-Seraphim: believe in the right and the divine, even though they too are in hell, and they continue to punish those that deserve it and never let up

due to this the two orders are conflicting

Angels are created by god, if they just so happen to succumb to corruption they will be banished to hell. The Angels that fall are turned into greater demons, and the more powerful the Angel had been in hell the higher ranked they are in the inferno.

Political Order:
King
Duke
Prince
Marquis
Count
President
Knight

anything below this are considered lesser demons and are only around to serve the greater demons.

-Each group has their own set of internal conflict. Throne solves this by reigning with an iron fist, they make an example of anyone that attempts to get further up in the ranks, or sabotage what they're doing for the sake of Seraphim. Throne attempts to control the thoughts of the demons within in, basically their say is the only way, while Seraphim is more flexible- but at the same time they make sure their ranks stay in line and follow what is right.

-There are two different generations of Angels in heaven, those that are apart of the older generation and those that are apart of the newer. The ones from the old are more experimental Angels, the ones that God had attempted to model after the humans he created. He gave humans the right to love, to free will, all of that, and he wanted those that serve directly under him to be like that as well. However, that plan backfired when the corruption within them all spread faster than he thought. Since he had made them more human-like than anything, they had started to development thoughts like most of the humans, needs and wants like them, and soon that corruption could no longer be kept within the gates of heaven. He tossed them out, one by one, the legion that he had created, and only a very few amount remained in heaven. The ones that did remain were Angels like Marc, ones that still possessed the ability to love and trust those around them. Eventually though, even the most loyal and honorable Angels were sent to hell, they simply were not able to stay in God's legion. After that horrible incident he created the new generation, ones that were merely bound by duty, the ones that could not love or anything of the sort. They only knew obligation, they knew right from wrong, but they did not share the compassion that the old ones and the humans had. They had heard stories of that time though, and curious thoughts floated around in their minds, but still they could not fully understand since they did not have the compacity to love or cherish. For with love could come feelings of hurt, of betrayal, and thus feelings of hate and anger. Take that away and all the Angels were now left with was something entirely different from the humans they protect. The demons that were made from the souls of the damned could possibly carry some sense of love, but due to their corruption it's not very likely.

-The one called King Belial, the one that ruled on the other end of hell was someone that was trained in the art of treachery and the like. When one looks upon him they see what they want to see, whatever form or personality they desire the most. Perhaps they need someone to trust, a kind person that would listen, or maybe they need to see a strong and proud warrior, whatever the case Belial is not what he seems. No one really knows his real personality, they only know him from small talks and even then everyone has a different story of what he's like. Still, behind whatever personality he has there's always one similarity, whatever he says cannot be fully believed, he cannot be trusted, he is always doing something for his own personal gain.

-A demon can only get hurt by another demon, demonic powers or strength, or even magic and the like. They're very resilient, built specifically for hell and the demons that are in there, so no normal human can hurt them unless they possess magic. They're strong, much too strong to be anything close to a human, they could take several bullets to the chest and still be fine, but if the bullets were laced with some kind of spell or even magical bullets themselves it would depend on the type of magic but it could do some damage to them. On a side note, they're unable to harm those that are completely holy, the ones that serve directly under god. A demon would not be able to stand up to an Angel, nor would they be able to harm someone like the Pope or Bishop. However, there are ways to harm them, through the art of corruption all things are capable. A high king of hell would be able to possess or corrupt those that were under God's divine might, but on the other hand.... who really is strong enough to summon a king or anything of the sort to the surface?

-Demonic powers work on the surface, deal with it. But the demons that are summoned are mostly summoned for their knowledge or honesty.

-The ones that summon demons and strike a deal with them are also the ones that are destined to go to hell. The demons that torture them are apart of Throne, Seraphim doesn't take part in that. Their souls wouldn't be damned if they simply summoned a demon and asked them for their knowledge or words of wisdom then allowed them go to back. Members from Throne hardly are summoned, it's most Seraphim that are. When Throne is summoned it's generally for more destructive purposes. When summoning generally the person wants a certain something and a demon appears that is best for that job, but certain high class summoners are the ones that are able to pinpoint exactly what demon they want and summon it. The general people that attempt to summon can only get up to a Marquis, nothing above that unless more skilled. A demon can turn down the summoners request if they're stronger than the will of the summoner. Generally knights aren't strong enough to turn down a request.

-both king and prince run the circle, assign a respected king to the circle along with the prince, a council of sorts.

-Most of the circles are desolate, the layout is much like the poem describes for each, whatever kind of disgusting and gorey atmosphere is needed for that kind of circle, or maybe hard and shiny like for example greed being filled with gold and riches. The City of Dis on the other hand is more for where demons go to get away from everything, it's still pretty bad there but it's not anything like the designated circles. One could call it a vacation spot for the demons of hell, but even that much is a little stretch. There are more definite buildings and whatnot in the city, demons go here to relax.... at least a little bit.

-The demons can eat and drink but they don't exactly need it to survive, they can live without it and everything. Just like the fact that they have noses but don't exactly need to breathe, they cannot drown for example.

still to do:

sort out marc powers
sort out a definite council of kings and princes
